Veronika von Kathen was born in Berlin and completed her architecture studies at the Technical University of Berlin in 1979. In 1981, she founded her first planning office. Even during her school years, she was engaged in portrait drawing. The first exhibitions took place in 1990. The goal of her architecture and painting is to shape spaces and breathe life into them, making them modern and timeless. She strives to connect art and architecture. To achieve the desired impact with her paintings, Veronika von Kathen prefers larger square formats and acrylic paints. We are not just meant to observe the paintings; the paintings are meant to look at us and thus become the defining focal point of the space. The paintings are a symbiosis of almost photorealistic objects that often dissolve in their contours with non-representational elements, as well as elements highlighted in color. Today, Veronika von Kathen works as a freelance artist and architect in Berlin.
